Barbara Toner Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
Dr. Barbara Toner was a clinical psychologist, a Troy University professor for fifteen years, and a mentor to countless individuals. Dr. Dionne Rosser-Mims, the Vice Chancellor of Troy University’s Phenix City Campus, established the Barbara Toner Non-Traditional Student Scholarship in memory of Dr. Toner and her legacy as an educator. This scholarship supports non-traditional students who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Recipients must be twenty-five years or older, have a 2.5 GPA, and have financial needs. Students enrolled in TROY’s Parent Achievement Through Student Success program are given priority. Applicants must provide a letter requesting financial support stating the details of their need and the requested amount. Applicants will also be required to submit a brief explanation of why they feel they deserve the scholarship and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or advisor. The Phenix City Scholarship Committee selects recipients. Recipients must write a letter of appreciation to the donor and attend the annual Scholarship Donor and Recipient Reception.
