Dr. Kathy Murphy Leadership Scholarship

Dr. Kathy Murphy graduated magna cum laude from Troy University in 1981 before going on to have a decades-long career in public education. Now serving as the president of Gadsden State Community College, Dr. Murphy has always had a laser focus and commitment to students. In 2019, she established the Dr. Kathy Murphy Leadership Scholarship to assist full-time education majors enrolled in TROY’s College of Education for one or more years. To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 3.2 GPA and attend classes on the Troy University campus in Troy. Applicants are required to submit a 250 to 400-word essay describing how the scholarship will assist them in continuing their schooling. The Troy University Scholarship Committee and representatives from the College of Education, Foundation, and the Murphy family select recipients. Recipients must write a letter of appreciation to the donor and attend the annual Scholarship Donor and Recipient Reception.
