Jeff Taylor Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Theatre Lighting & Sound

Jeff Taylor was hired at Troy State in the early 1970s as a student. He started out working with the physical plant but soon became the technical director of Claudia Crosby Theatre, where he was the lighting and sound guy on every production. After twenty-seven years at Troy, Jeff retired in 1998 and immediately opened Troy’s beloved movie theatre, the Continental Cinema 5. Jeff was a hard worker dedicated to his craft, so in 2022, his dear friends established the Jeff Taylor Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Theatre Lighting & Sound in his memory. This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Theatre Department with a focus on lighting and sound production. Recipients must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA and attend the Troy campus in Troy, Alabama. Recipients are selected by a committee led by the Theatre and Dance Department Chair. Recipients must write a letter of appreciation to the donor and attend the Scholarship Donor and Recipient Reception.
