Douglas L. Mims Endowed Accounting Scholarship
Since receiving both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Troy University, Doug Mims has remained an active figure at his alma mater. In 2002, Doug was awarded Troy University’s Alumni of the Year award; in 2010, he was made president of the Alumni Board, and in 2022, he joined the Sorrell College of Business Advisory Council. Doug has been a long-time supporter of Troy, and in that same vein of support, he established the Doug Mims Endowed Accounting Scholarship in 2019. This one-time, nonrenewable scholarship is awarded to students with a 3.0 GPA who have been unconditionally accepted to the Master of Accountancy program at the Sorrell College of Business on Troy’s main campus as first preference. If there are no Master of Accountancy students eligible, the fund can then be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in accounting. The Sorrell College of Business School of Accountancy Scholarship Committee selects recipients. Recipients must write a letter of appreciation to the donor and attend the Scholarship Donor and Recipient Reception.
