Chasity Dione Barnes Memorial Scholarship

The Chasity Dione Barnes Memorial Scholarship honors a life rooted in faith, strong values, and a deep love for family, community, and education. It is established in memory of Chasity, a young woman who grew up in Webb, Ala., but whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 27. She was determined, compassionate, and committed to making a difference, and we’re looking for students who reflect those same qualities. This one-time $1,000 scholarship is open to African-American students attending the Troy campus of Troy University in Troy, Alabama (entering freshmen must have unconditional admission; current students must have at least a 2.5 GPA), with preference given to students graduating from a high school in Alabama. Applicants must submit an essay highlighting their community service and why they are deserving, and if selected, the recipient must send an acceptance email to the Barnes Family. If you are driven, service-minded, and committed to your goals, we encourage you to apply and be a part of continuing Chasity’s legacy.
